toggle button

Binary interface element

A toggle button is a control that switches between two states when pressed—typically on and off.

Unlike a regular button that triggers a single action, a toggle button stays in its new state until pressed again: The mute toggle button turns red when active.

Common in software interfaces and physical devices like flashlights.
