timeboxes
Fixed duration blocks
Timeboxes is the plural of timebox, a fixed period allocated to complete a task or activity.
The concept comes from project management, especially agile software development, where work is divided into strict intervals: We work in two-week timeboxes.
As a verb, to timebox is to set such limits: She timeboxes her email to thirty minutes each morning.
The practice prevents tasks from expanding indefinitely.
