tiger salamander
Striped burrowing amphibian
A tiger salamander is a large North American salamander with distinctive yellow or olive markings on dark skin, resembling tiger stripes.
They spend most of their adult lives underground, emerging to breed in temporary pools.
Among the largest land-dwelling salamanders, they're common in grasslands and can live over twenty years in captivity.
