tame

Broken to harness

Tame describes animals that have been domesticated or trained to live with humans without fear or aggression, the opposite of wild.

By extension, tame characterizes anything lacking excitement, danger, or intensity: The movie was pretty tame compared to the book.

A tame person is docile or submissive, easily controlled.

The verb tame means to bring something wild under control, whether an animal, a wilderness, or an unruly situation: She managed to tame her frizzy hair.
