lungless
Lacking air sacs
Lungless describes organisms that lack lungs, breathing instead through skin, gills, or other structures.
The word appears most often in biology, particularly for the lungless salamanders—the largest family of salamanders, which absorb oxygen directly through moist skin: Lungless salamanders are surprisingly diverse in Appalachian forests.
