third country

Neither party's nation

A third country is a nation other than the two primarily involved in a discussion, agreement, or relationship.

In trade negotiations between the US and China, Japan would be a third country.

Immigration law uses the term for any country that is neither the person's origin nor destination: Refugees were processed in a third country before resettlement.
