founding member
Charter group starter
A founding member is someone who helped establish an organization, group, or institution at its inception.
The term emphasizes original participation—a founding member of a band was there from the start, not someone who joined later.
She's a founding member of the book club.
The phrase often carries prestige, distinguishing pioneers from those who came after.
