terror birds

Giant flightless hunters

Terror birds were large, flightless predatory birds that dominated South America for millions of years after the dinosaurs died out.

Standing up to ten feet tall with massive hooked beaks, they were apex predators until the land bridge to North America formed.

The name evokes their fearsome appearance and hunting prowess.
