secretary birds
Snake-killing African raptors
Secretary birds are large African birds of prey that hunt on foot, stalking through grasslands to kill snakes, lizards, and rodents with powerful kicks.
They stand nearly four feet tall on crane-like legs, with a distinctive crest of dark feathers at the back of the head—said to resemble quill pens tucked behind a clerk's ear, hence the name.
