temple fair
Religious grounds celebration
A temple fair is a periodic outdoor market or festival held on the grounds of a Buddhist or Taoist temple in China and other East Asian countries.
These fairs combine religious observance with commerce and entertainment—vendors sell food, crafts, and goods while visitors enjoy performances, games, and traditional activities.
Temple fairs are especially popular during Chinese New Year and other holidays: We visited the temple fair to watch the lion dancers and buy candied hawthorn.
