teebox

Golfer's starting area

A teebox, also spelled tee box, is the designated area on a golf course from which players make their first stroke on each hole.

This flat, rectangular section is typically marked by colored tee markers that indicate different playing distances—forward tees for shorter distances, back tees for longer championship play.

Golfers must place their ball between or behind these markers when teeing off.

I sliced my drive right off the teebox and into the rough.
