technic

Skilled working method

Technic refers to technique—the mechanical skill or method used in an art or craft: piano technic, the technics of sculpture.

The word is somewhat formal and old-fashioned, more common in its plural form technics, which can also mean the study of industrial arts and applied sciences.

In practice, technique has largely displaced technic in everyday usage.
