sweep kick

Low rotational takedown

A sweep kick is a martial arts technique where one leg swings low to knock an opponent's feet out from under them.

The attacker's leg sweeps across the ground or just above it, striking the ankle or calf to disrupt balance: He dropped his opponent with a quick sweep kick.

Common in karate, judo, and mixed martial arts, sweep kicks set up throws or create openings for follow-up strikes.
