supersymmetry

Particle partner theory

Supersymmetry is a theoretical framework in particle physics proposing that every known particle has an undiscovered partner particle.

Fermions (matter particles) would pair with bosons (force-carrying particles), and vice versa.

The theory elegantly addresses gaps in the Standard Model and could explain dark matter, but no supersymmetric particles have been detected experimentally.

Often shortened to SUSY.
