R-parity
R-parity is a quantum number in supersymmetry theory that distinguishes ordinary particles from their hypothetical supersymmetric partners.
Standard particles have R-parity of +1, while supersymmetric particles have −1.
If R-parity is conserved, supersymmetric particles can only be created or destroyed in pairs, and the lightest supersymmetric particle cannot decay—making it a candidate for dark matter.
