A summer house is a small, often decorative structure in a garden or yard, typically open-sided or lightly enclosed, providing a shaded place to sit outdoors: We had tea in the summer house.
The term also refers to a secondary residence used during warm months, especially in resort areas: They spend July at their summer house on the Cape.
