subindex
Index within index
A subindex is a subdivision of a larger index, tracking a subset of its components.
In finance, a subindex might measure one sector within a broader market index: The technology subindex outperformed the overall market.
In mathematics and programming, a subindex is a secondary subscript used to identify elements within nested structures.
