stereotyper

Printing plate caster

A stereotyper is someone who makes stereotypes—metal printing plates cast from molds of set type, allowing newspapers and books to be printed from durable copies rather than fragile originals.

The trade was common in the 19th and early 20th centuries before offset printing displaced it.

Separately, a stereotyper is one who stereotypes people, reducing them to oversimplified categories.
