standin
Fills in temporarily
A standin is a substitute who takes someone's place temporarily.
In film and television, a standin specifically replaces an actor during technical setup—lighting adjustments, camera blocking—so the star needn't wait around: The director used a standin while they adjusted the lights.
More broadly, any temporary replacement: She served as a standin for the absent committee chair.
Usually spelled as two words or hyphenated: stand-in.
