spider monkeys
Long-limbed canopy dwellers
Spider monkeys are slender, long-limbed primates native to Central and South American rainforests.
Their extraordinarily long arms, legs, and prehensile tails give them a spidery appearance as they swing through the forest canopy.
The tail functions as a fifth limb, gripping branches while the monkey feeds or travels.
They live in social groups and are among the most agile of New World monkeys.
