rainforest canopy

Treetop tropical layer

The rainforest canopy is the dense upper layer of a tropical rainforest, formed by the interlocking crowns of tall trees.

This zone, typically 20 to 40 meters above the forest floor, receives the most sunlight and hosts the greatest concentration of plant and animal life.

Researchers use rope bridges to study the rainforest canopy.
