Racing the clock
A speed run is an attempt to complete a video game or game level as fast as possible, often exploiting glitches or unconventional strategies to shave off seconds: His speed run of the original Mario broke the world record.
The term extends beyond gaming to any rapid completion of a task: I did a speed run through the grocery store.
