speeded
Picked up pace
Speeded is the past tense and past participle of speed, used interchangeably with sped in most contexts: The car speeded past us.
Some style guides prefer speeded with "up" (The process speeded up) and sped for unassisted motion (She sped down the hill), but actual usage varies widely.
