Individualized learning services
Special ed is short for special education—programs and services for students with disabilities or learning differences.
The term is neutral in educational contexts: He teaches special ed, special ed classes.
But calling someone special ed as an insult implies they're slow or stupid, making the phrase offensive outside its proper use.
