co-teaching

Dual educator model

Co-teaching is an instructional arrangement in which two or more educators share responsibility for planning, delivering, and assessing lessons for the same group of students.

The practice is especially common in inclusive classrooms, where a general education teacher partners with a special education teacher to serve students with diverse learning needs.

Co-teachers may take turns leading instruction, work with small groups simultaneously, or have one teach while the other provides support.

The co-teaching model helped us reach struggling readers without pulling them from class.
