soul train line

Funky partner parade

A soul train line is a dance formation where two parallel rows of people face each other, creating an aisle down which individuals or pairs take turns dancing.

Named after the television show *Soul Train*, which popularized the format, the formation appears at weddings, parties, and celebrations: The DJ called for a soul train line and everyone lined up.

Also called a dance line or boogie line.
