sneezeweed
Autumn-blooming daisy relative
Sneezeweed is a North American wildflower in the daisy family, with yellow ray petals surrounding a raised central disk.
The name comes from the old practice of drying the flower heads and grinding them into snuff to induce sneezing, thought to expel evil spirits.
The plant blooms in late summer and fall, often in wet meadows: The field was bright with sneezeweed and goldenrod.
