slashers
Machete-wielding movie monsters
Slashers are horror films featuring masked killers who stalk and murder victims, typically teenagers, with bladed weapons: Halloween and Friday the 13th defined the slasher genre.
The term comes from the slashing motion of knives and machetes.
Slasher can also mean a person or thing that slashes—someone who cuts budgets, clears brush, or wields a blade.
