backslashes
Leftward-leaning diagonals
Backslashes are the punctuation mark \ , slanting from upper left to lower right—the reverse of the forward slash /.
In computing, backslashes serve as path separators in Windows file systems C:\Users\Documents and as escape characters in programming.
Outside technical contexts, they're rarely used and often confused with forward slashes.
