skiplanes
Snow-landing craft
Skiplanes are aircraft fitted with skis instead of wheels, allowing them to land on snow and ice.
They serve remote arctic and alpine regions where conventional runways don't exist: Bush pilots fly skiplanes into glacier camps.
Some have retractable skis or combination ski-wheel gear for versatility across terrain types.
