disaster response
Crisis management efforts
Disaster response is the organized effort to address the immediate aftermath of a catastrophe—coordinating emergency services, evacuating people, providing shelter and medical care, and restoring basic infrastructure.
The term covers everything from local fire department actions to international humanitarian operations: FEMA led the federal disaster response after the hurricane.
Response is typically distinguished from preparedness (before) and recovery (after).
