single quote

Lone punctuation mark

A single quote is the punctuation mark (') used for quotations within quotations, to mark words as words, or in some styles as the primary quotation mark.

In computing, single quotes delimit strings or characters in many programming languages: print('hello').

The term also refers to just one of a pair: You're missing the closing single quote.
