you

The person addressed

You is the only official second person pronoun in English for subjects and objects.

Because it stands for both singular and plural, several unofficial plural pronouns exist to overcome ambiguity, such as you all, y’all, youse, you guys, and so forth.

You is used both when directly addressing a person or group, or as an informal way of talking about people in general: You never know how many fans might turn up.
