single-chain

Not doubly linked

Single-chain describes something composed of one continuous linear sequence rather than multiple interconnected strands.

The term appears most often in biochemistry, where a single-chain protein consists of one polypeptide rather than several subunits joined together: single-chain antibodies, single-chain variable fragments.

In other contexts, it describes any structure built from one unbroken series of linked elements.
