sic

Editorial error marker

Sic is Latin for "thus" or "so," used in brackets after a quoted word to indicate the original text contained that exact spelling, grammar, or usage—signaling the error or oddity belongs to the source, not the quoter: The sign read "No Trespasing" [sic].

Separately, to sic (or sick) a dog on someone is to urge it to attack: He sicced the dog on the intruder.
