Short-listed means selected for a final round of consideration, having made it past initial screening to a smaller group of candidates: She was short-listed for the position.
The term comes from the practice of narrowing a long list of applicants to a short list of finalists.
Common in British English for job searches and literary prizes: The novel was short-listed for the Booker Prize.
