shoji
Translucent sliding panel
Shoji are traditional Japanese sliding doors or screens made of translucent paper stretched over a wooden frame.
They divide interior spaces while allowing diffused light to pass through: The shoji panels cast a soft glow in the room.
The word appears in English discussions of Japanese architecture and interior design.
