shojis
Translucent Japanese dividers
Shojis are traditional Japanese sliding doors or room dividers made of translucent paper stretched over a wooden frame.
They allow diffused light to pass through while providing privacy.
The term appears in English contexts discussing Japanese architecture or interior design: The shojis separated the tea room from the garden.
Singular: shoji.
