shipwrecker

Causes maritime disasters

A shipwrecker is someone who causes ships to wreck—either literally by luring vessels onto rocks with false lights, or figuratively by sabotaging an enterprise.

The historical sense refers to coastal pirates who plundered grounded ships: The shipwreckers lit fires on the cliffs to mislead passing vessels.

The word also applies to anyone who deliberately destroys something others depend on.
