lifeboatman
Sea rescue crewman
A lifeboatman is a crew member of a lifeboat—the rescue vessels stationed along coastlines to aid ships in distress.
The term applies especially to members of volunteer lifeboat services like Britain's Royal National Lifeboat Institution: The lifeboatmen launched into heavy seas to reach the sinking trawler.
