sheva brachot
Seven nuptial benedictions
Sheva brachot (Hebrew, "seven blessings") are the blessings recited at a Jewish wedding ceremony and during the week of celebration that follows.
The blessings praise God for creation, humanity, and the joy of marriage.
The term also refers to the festive meals held during the week after the wedding, where the blessings are recited again in the presence of new guests: We're hosting sheva brachot on Thursday night.
