sharia court
Religious legal body
A sharia court is a tribunal that adjudicates matters according to Islamic law.
These courts handle family law, inheritance, and religious disputes in Muslim-majority countries, and sometimes operate alongside secular legal systems.
In Western countries, sharia courts or councils may offer nonbinding arbitration for Muslims who choose them: The couple took their divorce to a sharia court.
