service ribbon
Uniform chest stripe
A service ribbon is a small rectangular strip of colored fabric worn on a military uniform to indicate awards, decorations, or campaigns served.
Each ribbon's colors and patterns correspond to specific medals or commendations: His chest was covered with service ribbons from three tours of duty.
The ribbons serve as a compact display when wearing full medals would be impractical.
