war medal
Veteran's chest pin
A war medal is a decoration awarded for military service during a specific conflict.
Unlike medals for individual acts of valor, war medals typically go to all who served in a particular campaign or theater: My grandfather's war medals include one from Korea and one from Vietnam.
They commemorate participation rather than distinguish heroism.
