sensory transduction
Signal becomes nerve
Sensory transduction is the process by which sensory receptors convert physical stimuli—light, sound, pressure, chemicals—into electrical signals the nervous system can interpret.
When light hits your retina or vibrations reach your inner ear, specialized cells transduce that energy into nerve impulses sent to the brain.
The term appears in neuroscience and physiology.
