semitropical

Warm but temperate

Semitropical describes climates or regions that border on the tropics—warm enough for palm trees and citrus but with occasional frost or cool seasons.

Florida and parts of southern California are semitropical.

The term is interchangeable with subtropical: semitropical vegetation, a semitropical climate.
