sea walls
Shoreline flood barriers
Sea walls are barriers built along coastlines to prevent erosion and protect land from waves and flooding.
They're typically made of concrete, stone, or steel, standing as vertical or sloped structures between water and shore.
The old sea walls couldn't withstand the storm surge.
Also spelled as one word: seawall.
