screenprints

Ink-through-mesh art

Screenprints are prints made by forcing ink through a mesh screen onto a surface, with a stencil blocking areas that should remain unprinted.

The technique produces bold colors and flat areas of ink, favored for posters, T-shirts, and fine art.

Andy Warhol's celebrity portraits are famous screenprints.

Also called silkscreens or serigraphs.
