screen capture

Frozen monitor image

A screen capture is a digital image of what appears on a computer or device display at a given moment, also called a screenshot.

The term can also refer to the act of creating such an image: I'll do a screen capture and send it to you.

Screen captures document errors, preserve conversations, or share visual information.
