Digital footage acquisition
Video capture is the process of converting video from an external source into digital format that can be stored or edited on a computer.
A video capture card or device takes signals from cameras, game consoles, or other video sources: I use a capture card to record my gameplay.
The term also applies to grabbing still frames from video footage.
